It was May 2003 when EVE Online was first unleashed upon the masses.
With its own unique sci-fi lore, expansive 7500 star systems, and enough eye-candy to throw your brain into anaphylactic shock. EVE was and still is, a refreshing addition to the collection of mostly fantasy styled massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) available in 2003.
In eager anticipation, with the help of a friend (code monkey) I created my first gamer fansite “The Southern Protectorate” which featured on EVE Onlines main page, and boasted over 20,000 unique hits a month. Not bad for a first time amateur fansite.
Despite its promise at the time, once a player had penetrated its silky smooth surface, it became obvious that the game had a long way to go before it could deliver a satisfying game experience. This left many players wanting, and over time, became frustrated and bored with the gameplay options and choices at the time.
